A lucky group of Honors students recently had the privilege to have lunch with South African political analyst and economist Daniel Silke. During our lunchtime discussion with him we talked about South Africa’s political system, as well as how competitive South Africa is in the world market. This also led us into a discussion of how many different nations are competing in the world market, like Germany, Australia, and the United States. We also discussed the difference in South African culture in relation to our American culture. Mr. Silke was very grateful for our hospitality at RMU, as well as being interested and informed on American issues and politics. The experience with Mr. Silke was very enjoyable, as well as informative. He was very personable and we each took a lot away from our discussion with him.
